They are depicted as among the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, distinct from most gods, as gods are created by mortal belief. They embody powerful forces, or aspects, of the DC Universe. The Endless characters were created by Neil Gaiman and first appeared in the comic book series The Sandman (1989–1996).
